Our research group is level R4 leading in Neuroscience research and we are leading in our research field, in base of European framework for research careers.
The members of the staff are senior professors with more than thirthy years of experience in research and undergraduate and graduate formation of students. The leader is a level 3 of the National Research System with a strong reputation in the international community, with more than one hundred academic products and being the mentor of more than 90 students. The other two members are also part of the National Research System level 1 and all of them are positively evaluate by the Ministry of Education of México as Professors with “Perfil Deseable”. All of us are part of Neuroendocrinology Academic Group a considered as Consolidate Research Group for their activities in teaching, research, and scientific capacities by the Ministry of Education (SEP).
Our research group received support through grants from Consejo Nacional de Humanidades, Ciencia y Tecnología (CONAHCYT), Vicerrectoría de Investigación y Estudios de posgrado (VIEP) of Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, and CONCYTEP being all our projects peer reviewed.
We basically developed several animals’ models of the most important neurological diseases as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders and epilepsy among others. Our approach is holistic using electrophysiological, behavioral and molecular approaches.
We have a strong network of collaboration with several national and international patterns, and we published our results in indexed journals in Clarivate Analytics (JCR-Web of science journals) and Scopus. Elsevier Ltd. We applied regularly to international grant applications.
Our vision is strategic because we are searching best treatment options for the most frequent mental diseases: anxiety and depression; and a devastating myelin disease such as leukodystrophies and leukoencephalopaties.
In our laboratory more than fifty bachelors, thirty-five master’s in science and eleven PhD students in Physiological Sciences obtain their degrees under our mentoring. Most of our students are now working in the academic sector. Finally, we are now part of a large research group in cognitive sciences to develop a multidisciplinary approach and the creation of a new PhD program in this field at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.
